January 1st, 2010, Isis, & frinds
The stillnes of new year's eve, turned into a small kraft Advisory with 40% chance of thunder storms. My daughter Isis really wnated to go sailing with her frinds and I did not have the heart to say no. I knew RA can be safe on Biscayne bay even in stormy weather. When we left it was blowing 25 knots from the south west. Just getting the boat out of the slip took a great dal of maneuvering, thanks to Titus and Aramis. We raised the staysail and the Mizzen and sailed out of the channel full speed. We headed east on a close hauled for a while. I saw the sky darkening, and decided to tack to head home. While attempting to tack, we were hit by gusts exceeding 40 Knots and heavy rain. The crew were fantastic and supported me in managing the sailes and heading home. They all really were exhilirated with the experience. Here is what they wrote in the ship's log:
"Today we prais the boat God RA for bringing us to shore safe and sound. We also praise the Captain Asaad & Co Captain Titus for their expert sailing skills which faught hard against the 40 knot winds . What a way to kick off a new year and a new decade ! Our unborn baby loves you dearly, warm wishes and all the best, Aina, Isaac & lorie"
"90 Degree sailing, rain, wind, heavy chop.... Amazing in every way. Spiritually , physically & emotionally, RA forever, Aramis Lorie & Desiree Almodover"
