Douglas wanted to do something special with his children who are visiting from Michigan. My friend Cristy suggested that he takes his family sailing in Biscayne bay to watch fire works on the bay and celebrate the New Year aboard the sailing vessel RA.
It was so still on the bay so we had to be under power . However the night was beautiful, the temperature was unseasonably warm, the fireworks were spectacular and we all toasted the champagne and wished each other a great new year.Here is what Katie wrote in the ship's log:
